CLEP Remote Activities Policy Revised October 2025

In accordance with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA) Post Public Health Emergency (PHE) Guidance originally issued on May 11, 2023 and revised on September 23, 2025, the New York State (NYS) Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program (CLEP) will likewise allow pathologists and other laboratory personnel to review digital results and digital images remotely, under the conditions described below. Effective March 23, 2026, this policy will no longer apply to the remote review of cytology digital slides. Sites where review of cytology digital slides is occurring must obtain a New York clinical laboratory permit by this date to continue reviewing slides.
